Creating the perfect ambiance with color temperature

August 23, 2017

By selecting the proper color temperature, you can set the perfect ambience in any room.

To distinguish between the different tones of white, light bulbs are labeled with CCT or correlated color temperature. This is measured in Kelvin (K) and there are 3 primary types. The higher the Kelvin, the "whiter" the light will be.

Which color temperature should I pick?

WARM WHITE

2500-3000K

Soft yellow white light to create a cosy and relaxing environment. Normally used at home (in bedrooms, living or dining rooms),  restaurants, bars, hotels, spas.

COOL WHITE

 3100-4500K

Fresh, bright and energetic light, emitting a more neutral white. Commonly used in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, retail stores, offices.

DAY WHITE

5000-6500K

Similar to natural light, tending to  blue white.  Ideal for work spaces, garages, display areas, schools, factories, warehouses, supermarkets.
